Where it fits in the UK
Why UK organisations ask for it
UK boards and buyers are asking how AI is governed, and ISO/IEC 42001 is the international standard that answers it with a certifiable management system. The UK regulates AI through existing regulators rather than one AI act, so the ICO and sector bodies each ask their own questions, and firms selling into the EU also face the EU AI Act. Building the system once covers all of them. This course certifies you as the implementer; the organisation is certified separately by an accredited certification body.

Frequently asked questions
Does the price include the PECB exam?
Yes. £367 covers the official PECB eLearning, the exam voucher, two remote-proctored attempts, and the certification fee. There are no separate exam or certification fees.
Is this course PECB eLearning or PECB Self-Study?
It is PECB eLearning, which PECB delivers through PECB Certified Trainers in pre-recorded video format, with quizzes and the official course materials on myPECB, and it earns 31 CPD credits on completion. PECB Self-Study is a different PECB format: the official course materials without the recorded lessons, which PECB describes as suitable for people with considerable knowledge of the subject who do not require assisted lecturing, and it earns 16 CPD credits for a course of the same length. PECB makes its video lessons available only in eLearning. £367 + VAT (£440.40 including VAT) is the price for this eLearning course, charged in pounds, and it includes the PECB exam voucher, two exam attempts, the certification fee, the first year of PECB certification maintenance and 12 months of access. What PECB eLearning and Self-Study each include.
How many exam attempts are included?
Two. Your first sitting is included, and if you do not pass, your second attempt within 12 months is included too.
Are there any additional fees?
Not from us. £367 + VAT is charged at checkout, in pounds, which is £440.40 including 20% UK VAT. The one ongoing cost is PECB's own Annual Maintenance Fee, which the PECB Certification Maintenance Policy sets at USD 390 per certificate for each three-year cycle and which keeps the credential active. Your first year is already included in the course price, so that fee starts in year two and is paid to PECB directly.
How long does the course take?
Around 30 to 40 hours of study. Most people finish within four to eight weeks alongside their day job, and you have 12 months of portal access.
What is the exam format?
A 3-hour, open-book, remote-proctored exam covering six domains. You book one of the scheduled online exam sessions in myPECB within your 12 months of access.
Do I get practical examples for AI policies and controls?
Yes. Each module includes worked examples for AI policy statements, risk registers, Annex A control mappings and governance playbooks, so you can mirror them in your own rollout.
Should I take Lead Implementer or Lead Auditor?
Lead Implementer if you are building the AI management system, Lead Auditor if you are assessing one. They are the same price here, and both include the exam voucher and two attempts.
Do I need a technical AI background?
No. The course is aimed at governance, risk, security and compliance professionals who oversee AI programmes. Technical examples are explained in business language.
Is a copy of the ISO 42001 standard included?
No, and you do not need it to complete the course or pass the exam. ISO/IEC 42001 is a licensed document, so if you want your own copy you buy it from iso.org or your national standards body.
Who am I buying from?
Mindset Cyber, an authorised PECB training partner based in Australia. The course, the materials and the exam are PECB’s own and are identical wherever you enrol. You are charged in pounds and supported by email.
